Walking In Your Anointing

Anointing is symbolic of blessings, protection, and empowerment. God chose us as His children to be a part of his kingdom, and we are all chosen−we are all anointed! So, we all have special blessings, protection, and empowerment to be witnesses of his love, grace, mercy, and salvation. We are individually anointed and selected for a purpose.

21Now, it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22

Your anointing can be similar to another individual’s, but your purpose may differ. For example, one may use the anointing of oration to deliver soul-stirring, soul saving sermons. Another may use that same anointing solely to prepare (teaching) and develop others to become masterful orators.

Sometimes your purpose may be similar to that of others, but how you fulfill them differs according to your unique anointing. An example of this case may be one whose purpose is to comfort others and does so through using their anointing to listen, discern and advise by serving as a professional counselor. But someone else may also have a purpose to comfort others and do so by using their anointing to develop a methodology for pain alleviation or reduction.

So as you pursue your purpose, it is essential to recognize and embrace your anointing. Embracing your anointing will effectively incorporate your gifts and talents to accomplish your plan and purpose.

The following tips can help you to embrace our anointing:

  • Accept and acknowledge your anointing. Don’t dodge or hide from it; thank God for your blessings, protection, and empowerment.

  • Identify your unique gifts and talents. Recognize those qualities talents that require minimal development to be helpful. These are inherent, innate, or instinctual. They are gifts you enjoy using. So, take every opportunity to use them and share them in service to others.

  • Increase your knowledge. Admit the need for personal development of skills and abilities in some areas. Seek training, advice, personal and professional growth.

  • Listen to God’s instruction to define your calling. Focus on His Word. Pray without ceasing. Talk to God. Stay present and attentive so you can hear when He speaks and direct you to use your anointing for the His declared purpose.

Walk in your anointing with confidence and conviction, remembering:

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. MATTHEW 5: 14-15 14
